School Machine Servicing – Working With Schools to Keep Kids Sewing

At Sew This & That we value how much school sewing classes contribute to developing the next generation of sewing enthusiasts in Australia. To help work with your school to keep kids sewing, we offer high quality machine servicing with a price low enough to fit your budget.

Having your school’s machines serviced both improves functionality, and extends the life of your department’s investment. Our technicians are fully qualified and experienced in all makes and models, and work on your machines is covered by the security of a warranty. For your convenience we will collect your school machines, and then to get you back on schedule we will service them and return them to you.

Understanding that school budgets are tighter than ever, we offer several options to help your department:

  • Bulk Servicing: our technicians will collect all of your school machines (minimum of 10), service them, and then return them to you.
  • Single Machine Servicing: bring your machine to us and we will service it for your school at the discounted service pricing extended to bulk repairs.
  • Site Visit: our technicians can come to your school to inspect and do minor work to your machines. This involves a $60 call out fee, plus labour and parts. Typically, we are unable to do full servicing on site.
Below is a summary of our machine servicing and their discounted school rates (prices do not include parts or accessories).


Everyday Machines

These are your most common machines, with either an electronic or mechanical stitch selection system.




Embroidery (wtih Sewing)


These machines sew everyday, and in most cases, decorative stitches. In addition these machines are able to sew embroidery designs thanks to an inbuilt or attachable embroidery unit.




Embroidery Only


These machines only function is single needle embroidery, with either an inbuilt or attachable embroidery unit.




Embroidery Only Machine ?


These machines have more than one needle and threading system and typically require 2 people for transporting.






These are three to four thread overlockers without coverstitch functionality.






These overlockers have a coverstitch feature alongside normal overlocker functionality. Because of the extra complexity of these, there service cost is a little extra.




Coverstich Only


These machines have one function only; coverstitching.
