Floriani Wet n Stick Stabilizer

Floriani Wet n Stick Stabilizer

Floriani Wet n Stick Stabilizer

Floriani Wet n Stick Stabilizer

Specifically designed for hard to hoop items! Wet N Stick with one inch Grid is an adhesive backed stabilizer that allows you to secure socks, neckties, bags, belts, bulky items and more so that they can be easily and professionally embroidered. This unique stabilizer features a moisture activated adhesive on the back that will hold any item in place within the hoop. Avoid problems with peel-and-stick backing that will gum up machine needles or messy spray adhesives that release harmful chemicals into the air.
This product has the one inch grid lines to keep your design straight.

This tearaway stabilizer is coated with a water activated, silicone based adhesive. It is an alternative to pressure sensitive “sticky” paper products and/or messy spray adhesives. Most home embroiderers have at some point experienced problems with peel and stick products gumming up their needles as well as the designs registration not lining up correctly. This happens because they mistake “paper” for stabilizer. The main differences between Wet N Stick and these products are that Floriani’s is a stabilizer not paper and the adhesive doesn’t get sticky residue on the needle. The adhesive on Wet N Stick can also be re-activated up to six times for easy re-positioning of garments. The unique one-inch grid lines are especially appealing for lining up cuffs and collars. This product is also available in a black or white cut away version for times when you need to stick down a bulky stretch garment such as a sweatshirt of fleece pullover. It is important to use a “cut away” stabilizer on non-stable fabrics such as knit for the best embroidery results.

* Perfect for bulky items such as towels, robes and blankets

* Use for fabrics and garments that get “hoop burn”

* Use for hard to hoop items such as napkin corners, collars, cuffs, etc.

* Tears away clean from around your embroidery design

* One layer will support around 8,000 stitches on an average size, well digitized design

* The adhesive can be re-activated several times

To use Floriani Wet N Stick Tear Away or Cut Away:

1. Hoop one layer of the stabilizer, adhesive side up. Be sure the product is taut within the hoop. If using Wet N Stick with a grid, line the grid marks up with the lines on your inner hoop.

2. Apply a drop of water onto the stabilizer in each corner of the hoop as well as one in the center using a sponge, foam paint brush or envelope sealer (recommended, available at office supply stores). Remember that minimal water is required to activate the adhesive.

3. Using the tip of your finger, smooth the drops of water over the surface of the stabilizer. You will feel the adhesive become tacky almost instantly.

4. Press the garment into place and smooth out any wrinkles.

5. Embroider your design. 600 stitches per minute or less is recommended. * Tip – If the design is denser than 8,000 stitches or if it is a poorly digitized design (too many stitches for designs size), float one layer of Floriani Medium Tearaway between the hoop and the bed of the machine for each additional 10,000 stitches for added support!

6. Once the design is complete, remove the hoop from your embroidery machine and tear or cut away the Wet N Stick stabilizer. If the adhesive is holding on the garment, reactivate it by applying moisture at the glue line. Once the adhesive is re-activated it will release the garment.

Whisperweft

Whisperweft

Whisperweft Interfacing

79% viscose, 21% polyester, 1.2m wide.

Whisperweft is a medium weight weft with an increased number of rayon yarn insertions. It is ideal for light to medium weight loosley woven fabrics which require more support. Its nature is best suited to fabrics with a high natural fibre content that are hand washed or dry-cleaned.

Whisperweft requires pre-shrinking due to the rayon content. To pre-shrink successfully, soak in hot tap water for 10 minutes, then drip dry over a padded surface (e.g. a towel). We also recommend pre-shrinking the fashion fabric following manufacturer’s instructions.

Floriani Heat n Stay Fusible Tearaway

Floriani Heat n Sta Fusible Tearaway

Floriani’s Heat N Sta ® Fusible Tearaway Stabilizer is perfect for stabilizing lightweight woven fabrics that tend to shift during hooping or stitching in machine embroidery.

This tearaway stabilizer has a light fusible coating and was developed for embroidery on lightweight cotton, shirt-weight denim, linen and other woven fabrics that tend to distort or stretch when they are hooped or when the embroidery is forming.
Being a fusible tearaway, there’s no need for messy spray adhesives which may sometimes leave a residue on the needle, machine and fabric.  By fusing the stabilizer to the back of the garment, hooping will be easier and the garment will retain its shape without stretching.
  • Use for solid type embroidery designs on lightweight woven fabrics such as batiste, linen, shirt-weight, pin-point cotton, patchwork cottons etc.
  • Allows easy hooping and eliminates shift and stretch within the fabric
  • Fibres of the fabric will not move during the stitching process
  • Supports approx. an 8,000 stitch count, well-digitized embroidery design
  • No need for basting or spray adhesives
12″ x 10yds
Also available in a non-fusible version.

To use Heat N Sta ® Tearaway:
1.  Fuse one layer of Heat N Sta ® to the back of the fabric to be embroidered.  Be sure to use a piece at least 1″ larger than the outer parameter of the hoop to insure proper stabilization.
Important:  Use a low to medium temperature  (260°, silk) setting on your iron.  Do not touch the surface of your iron to the Heat N Sta ®, press from the fabric side or use a press cloth.

2.  Hoop the garment and stabilizer with a “tight as a drum” tension

3.  Embroidery your design.
Tip: If the design is denser than 8,000 stitches or if it is a poorly digitized design (too many stitches for the design’s size), float one layer of Floriani Medium Tearaway Stabilizer between the hoop and the bed of the machine for each additional 10,000 stitches for added support.

4.  Once the design is complete, remove the hoop from the machine and tear away the Heat N Sta ® from around the embroidery

Floriani Appli-Kay Wonder

Floriani Appli-Kay Wonder

Turn your embroidery designs into appliqués or patches with Floriani””s Appli-Kay Wonder. This fusible webbing has a pressure sensitive side for easy positioning. Use to create beautiful traditional appliqué for quilts, home dec and garments.

Trace your shape onto the protective release paper side of Appli-Kay Wonder. Fuse the soft side of the product to the wrong side of the fabric or item to be appliquéd. Cut out the shape and peel back the release paper, this exposes the sticky side. Position the appliqué as many times as you need and then press in to place for a permanent bond. Finish with a satin or decorative machine stitch.

Floriani Appli-Kay Wonder ® Tutorial

To turn an embroidery design into a patch or appliqué:

  1. Once the design is complete and trimmed, trace the outline of the design on to the paper protective sheet. *Remember that you need to trace or draw the “reverse” of the image.
  2. Following the lines you’ve drawn, cut the shape from the Appli-kay Wonder®.
  3. Place the soft/shiny side (exposed fusible) of the Appli-kay Wonder® to the backside of the embroidery and then press using a medium to high temperature on your iron and no steam. Hold the iron in place for at least 3 seconds. *All irons vary in temperature. Start at a medium setting and work your way up until you get a good fuse.
  4. Once it has cooled, peel away the contact paper from the embroidery design which exposes the sticky side.
  5. Position the embroidery on the garment and then press into place. Press from the applique side (use a press cloth to protect your embroidery thread) and underneath the fabric/garment for a secure bond. Finish by stitching around the embroidery with a satin or straight stitch.

Traditional Appliqué using Floriani Appli-kay Wonder®:

  1. Trace the design to be appliquéd onto the protective paper sheet of the Appli-kay Wonder®. Tip! Use a light box or trace at a window for accuracy!
  2. Trim around the image leaving at least ¼” inch of the Appli-kay Wonder outside the traced lines.
  3. Fuse the Appli-kay Wonder® piece to the wrong side of the decorative fabric using a medium to high temperature setting on your iron (No Steam). All irons vary in temperature settings. Start at a medium temperature and slowly increase until you get a good fuse. The fusible side of Appli-kay Wonder® is the soft/shiny side. Hold the iron in place for at least 3 seconds and then flip the piece over and press again on the fabric side.
  4. Once cooled, cut out the appliqué design using the trace lines.
  5. Peel back the protective sheet to expose the sticky surface. **It is very important to let the applique cool before removing the paper.
  6. Position the appliqué piece on the garment and press in to place. *Press on the appliqué side and the fabric side for maximum bonding. Finish by stitching around the appliqué with a satin or decorative stitch.

**Remember that your traced image will be reversed once it is traced onto the paper side of Appli-kay Wonder®. Make adjustments to the original image to prevent this.

**Most fabrics are treated with a starch or sizing. Pre-washing your materials prior to using them for applique will remove this treatment from the factory and will allow Appli-kay Wonder to bond more securely.

**Test all materials and procedures thoroughly before applying to your finished garment.

Floriani Stitch n Shape

stitch-n-shape
Use for adding shape, form and/or dimension to tote bags, placemats, fabric bowls/boxes, hat brims, ornaments, paper dolls and more. This remarkable product will hold its shape after it is inserted between two layers of fabric. You can stitch or embroider directly through it. Items constructed with Stitch N Shape® can be laundered and then reshaped by steaming. Create unique picture frame mats by painting, stitching or embellishing directly on it.

Stitch N Shape® is available in regular non-fused, single side fusible and double side fusible.

*To fuse fabric to Stitch N Shape® Double or Single Side Fusible:

  1. Begin by laying a heat resistant product such as a Teflon pressing sheet or parchment paper on your ironing board. If using the Double Side Fusible version of Stitch N Shape®, this will prevent the heat from the iron coming through the product and fusing the Stitch N Shape® to your ironing board cover.
  2. Place decorative fabric on top of the Stitch N Shape® (wrong side to the fusible side) and press it in place using a small amount of steam and a medium temperature on your iron. Remember to press, don’t “iron”!
*Tip – Since you are using steam to set the bond between the fabric and the Stitch N Shape®, it is necessary to pre-shrink your fabric for optimal results.
  3. For Double Side Fusible, turn the Stitch N Shape® over and cover the exposed fusible side with the wrong side of the decorative fabric. Press using a small amount of steam once again.
  4. Begin construction of your project, with both fabrics permanently fused in place! Remember to stitch slowly for the best results. If doing embroidery, set your machine speed to 600 stitches per minute or less.

5. Stitch your design!

6. Remove the stabilizer by gently tearing it away from around the design. If the design does not have an outline (this perforates the stabilizer), place your thumb on the edge of the stitching to protect it while pulling away the stabilizer.

Floriani Heat N Gone Topping & Stabilizer

Use this remarkable 100% heat removable film as a topping or stabilizer on all fabrics that can withstand an iron temperature of 260°-300° F (120°-140° C). Great when giving a gift and you need instant stabilizer removal or when your fabric cannot withstand moisture. Trace intricate quilt patterns or designs that you want to free motion stitch for a perfect guide to follow on top of the fabric!

To use as a topping:

Place a piece of Heat N Gone® on top of the hooped item, bumpy side down, and secure with pins or tape. Once the embroidery is complete, tear away as much of the Heat N Gone® as possible. Place your heated iron to the top of the garment to remove the excess stabilizer. Be sure your iron temp is a least 260° F (120°C).

To use as a stabilizer:

Place a piece of Heat N Gone® within the hoop with the item to be embroidered. Use a piece at least one inch larger than the outer perimeter of the hoop. The bumpy side of the stabilizer should be against the fabric. Once the embroidery is complete, tear away as much of the Heat N Gone® as possible. Follow the steps above for removing any remnants left around the design.
