Meet The Owner
took over the shop with her Mother Joanne Wearing in November 2006, the business being formerly known as Caboolture Sewing Machines & Patchwork. Since then the shop has transformed into the busy hub that it is today. In 2013 Danielle took over the entire business, with Joanne remaining as our Advanced Patchwork Tutor, which allows her to focus on her Judy Niemeyer workshops Australia wide. Danielle and all of our team’s priority is to provide comprehensive advice on all things sewing while creating a fun and inviting atmosphere that is welcoming to all confidence levels.
Danielle enjoyed a 12 year career in Banking and Finance before taking on the challenge of the sewing industry. She was taught to sew as soon as she could handle a machine and started out by making her own clothes. Patchwork became an extension of that hobby and she loves the technical and computer side of Machine Embroidery. Danielle loves more contemporary sewing and finding new gadgets & products to excite her customers. Danielle often teaches special computer-based workshops including Facebook know-how days. Danielle sews on a Bernina 880 Sewing and Emboridery Machine & a Husqvarna Overlocker, creates on a ScanNCut, and uses Bernina Software, Husqvarna 6D Software, Truembroidery Software and EQ7 Quilt Designer Software.

trained formally as a Registered Nurse but has sewn for as long as she can remember. She held her own dress label for many years which eventually focused specifically on Bridal and Formal Wear. Joanne has always been interested in the craft of sewing from needlepoint, heirloom, embroidery, dressmaking, patchwork & quilting. Due to her talents she acts as the Advanced teacher in the store, offering her students challenges and making them think outside the square! In 2014 Joanne became Australia’s first Judy Niemeyer Certified Instructor, and teaches workshops in store, and Australia wide, and then shortly after became Judy Niemeyer's Australian Facilitator. Joanne sews on a Husqvarna VIKING Epic Sewing and Embroidery Machine, Husqvarna Sapphire Sewing Machine, a Brother VE3300 Sewing Machine, a Handi Quilter Quilting Frame & ProStitcher, and EQ7 Software.Penny
is our Store Manager and has been in the patchwork industry since she started with Sew This & That in 2007. Having a natural talent for colours and calculations, she loves to help pick patchwork fabric and to workout fabric requirements. While she can do just about any kind of sewing, what she loves doing most is creating odd things like costumes. She also enjoys digitizing and pattern making. Penny sews on a Brother Sewing & Embroidery Machine, Janome Overlocker and Janome Coverstitch, creates on a ScanNCut, and uses Brother PE Design Software and EQ7 Quilt Design Software.Cheryl
has been with the store since 2000 and in the industry for over 20 years. Her mum was a keen sewer so Cheryl learned at a young age but became serious when she started working at Sckafs fabrics. Cheryl is our Sewing Club presenter and enjoys creating the club projects and home decor items. “I mostly enjoy working in an industry that the customers have a great passion for. To share their enthusiasm & swap ideas.” She also teaches many other sewing classes including Beginner’s Patchwork, Beginner’s Overlocking, and many of our free New Owner’s Lessons. Cheryl has her own pattern business Heidi-Ho Patterns. Cheryl sews on a Brother Sewing and Embroidery Machine, a Janome Sewing Machine.Sandra
has been with us since 2008. Her first patchwork class was at the age of 17. She didn’t enjoy the class at first, but then she invested in a new sewing machine that was up for the task and found that sewing was far more enjoyable. “I really enjoy seeing ladies improve their skills and the sense of achievement they experience is priceless.” Sandra teaches many of our New Owner’s Lessons, and New Owner’s Embroidery Lessons. She also teaches many of our ScanNcut workshops and Machine Embroidery Classes. Sandra sews on a Brother Sewing and Embroidery Machine, a Janome Embroidery and Sewing Machine and a Janome Overlocker, and creates on a Brother ScanNcut.Alison
has been with us since 2007, coming from a long history of working in the sewing industry that began in 1987. She has a vast expanse of sewing knowledge, most especially dress-making. She has her own business, Ally’s Bridal Stitches, making beautiful bridal accessories. Her long-time in the sewing industry also means that Alison has an extensive knowledge of all sorts of sewing machines, from the very new to the really old. Alison teaches many of our New Owner’s Lessons, and New Owner’s Embroidery Lessons. Alison sews on a Husqvarna VIKING Sewing and Embroidery Machine, and a Husqvarna Overlocker.Teala
started working with Sew This & That under a school-based machine embroidery trainee-ship. She loves to sew, and has a big sewing and embroidery machine at home that she tries to use it as much as she can, but is often distracted by her ScanNcut. Teala sews on a Brother Sewing and Embroidery Machine, and creates on a Brother ScanNcut.Ashleigh
